I find it incredible that someone comes to a board about alcoholism, ressurects a 4 year old post just to tell everyone their moderate drinking is going swell

I don't even want to think of what drunken nonsense I was up to when the original post was typed out....

There are millions of moderate drinkers in the world, but in my experience they never ask the question "Am I an alcoholic?" It's pretty much one of those questions where the answer is always yes.

Europagrl ended up in a long term treatment program if I recall. Wonder how she's doing today.

I know I'm an alcoholic. I really can't imagine why I would even want to moderate. If I ever stopped short of "enough" I felt miserable, and enough was always too much. I never drank to fit in or because it was cool - I drank to get drunk.

Honey alcoholics DO not have the ABILITY to drink in moderation.

A is right euro admitted her self in a year long program about 6 months ago.

im such an alcoholic i read this post and thought hmmm i wonder... i wish there was someone in recovery who could teach me moderate drinking - but there is no such thing for me and that kinda thinking keeps me ill and i start believing the alcoholic lies of maybe i could just have a couple. - All the evidence of my drinking tells me i have never drunk like that - once i had one it set off a reaction which mean i need another then another then another .

In response to the thread res-erector; I think it is a given that there is so no such thing as 1 or 2 glasses of wine at dinner for 4 years, cant even fall under the heavy drinker category. No need to be here.
I just read this and became overwhelmed with how much this place really grew on me. We used to have some intense, argumentative great threads. I felt worry for devon, rainbowbathbubbles, crazymomm.. and lots more.
I realized how much wisdom that botbotcoco/ phil608/ nemo/nickyj, serenity94/ HUW/ terridasilva/ provided. Hell I even miss the idiots les123 and Dan-o. Damn i could go on for quite a while. I wonder if the london group is still active???
Oh well, thats when 40-50 people hung all the time.

I have heard many people say that they can go out and just have one or two. They fall into two catagories for me; normies, and liars. The normies can do this, which I do not understand. The liars, they are in the rooms that I frequent. Every time I have tried to drink moderately, it has failed dismally! Once I have a drink, I do not stop until I am out of alcohol, out of money, or in handcuffs. Trust me, this opinion is the result of LOTS of research! The last time I went out for ONE drink, I ended up in detox with a blood alcohol level of .427, which they told me would have killed a person without my drinking history. If you can do it, great. I cannot, and most people I know these days cannot either. Good luck!
