Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I drank again last night. Anxiety was crippling me ALL day long, I hardly ate and by 4:00 I just couldn't even concentrate on anything so I gave in.
Maybe I am not ready to quit drinking or maybe I just don't have it in me to do so.
My husband has suggested I set mini goals for myself. I do better generally in life with goals set so maybe give that a try when it comes to drinking. I know, many believe "1 day at a time" but I look into the future and that will not change. I have a hard time focusing just on today.
I'll give this another go.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

It certainly helped me.
But, like you say (I have all those things) and I am still not ready I guess.
Its very depressing...being sober is so much more fun and closer to living....drinking for me is closer to death.
But, I too always think of the future no matter who tells me one day at a time....
Drinking makes anxiety worse....I have anxiety generally...but when I drink it is 10x worse....I just stayed sober for a month and my anxiety was tolerable.
When I drink it is not tolerable...which leads to more drinking.
I hope you find a way to live healthy and free from alcohol.
U actually get your peace and mind back, U will physically look better, your money will go to U instead of the corner store. U will gain more self confidence. U will not feel like a slave to alcohol. U will see all these positive things happening and the negative disappear.
The next body weight goes away. The list goes on. I wish I realized that along time ago.
In detox I was given medication to help me through the withdrawal process, and I was given a complete physical by a doctor who specialized in addtiction treatment.
After detox I was admitted into an outpatient treatment program call an IOP where I was treated for the things that triggered my addiction such as depression and ptsd. After the iop, I was referred to relapse prevention group counseling where I learned what my triggers were and how to handle them.
During all phases of my treatment, AA meetings were mandatory! I got a sponser who has helped me get over the bumps in life and has become a great friend.
That was over 7 years ago. Today, I continue to attend occasional meetings, and I live my live by the 12 steps and I have never been happier!
God Bless!
