Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to reach out in a time of particular need.
I have had problems with alcohol dating back maybe 20 years! Always to do with quelling anxiety but recently, after years of feeling like a normal person, the anxiety has come back and I have gone back to my old habits!
At the moment I am drinking round the clock, not eating, barely sleeping and have not left the house in a few days. I remember what it was like to feel like this and I thought it would never happen again! I'm desperate to wake up tomorrow feeling normal again.
I'm sure everyone who reads this knows what I'm going through. I just needed to share. If anyone can offer any advice or words of wisdom they would be greatly appreciated!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I will say a prayer for you and hope that you can find some help, keep checking in and let us know how things are going!

And get to work. Quitting takes changing it up. This is a disorder of isolation. By getting to meet up with other alcoholics you can fight back.

If you have family that care about you, imagine, (if you can) how devastated they would feel if you drank yourself to death! Is that how you want to be remembered?
Sorry this sounds harsh, but there is no way I can sugar coat what you are doing. You need to stop and stop now!
I watched my parents commit a slow suicide with the bottle and that left a scar that took nearly a lifetime to heal.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers
God Bless!
Once you get through detox, you might want to consider inpatient rehab, intensive outpatient care, counseling, or other support like AA or SMART Recovery.
Anxiety and drinking often go hand in hand. Drinking causes and heightens anxiety, and anxiety drives the desire to drink. You might want to seek medical treatment for your anxiety if it doesn't lift about you've been sober for awhile.
Good luck!
