Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
It is sad. My two local 7 Elevens have pretty much a regular crowd of "beggars". There was this one man I grew particularly fond of because he didn't beg. Always said hi and how are you. I'd buy him food sometimes: hotdog, soda, chips No biggy. Give him a few bucks now and then. Haven't seen him in a while. Found out recently he moved on to a different 7 Eleven. Kinda made me chuckle. Guess I was too cheap. Once in a blue moon I'll give one of 'em a beer or two. Sometimes I let them come in and I'll fix a hot meal. That stopped when my boyfriend was absolutely furious that I was risking my life. I never really felt threatened by the people I let in. Then a bar buddy pointed out that they could be carrying lice and who knows what else. Well that did it for me for inviting them in my place.
I guess I'm telling you this because it is so sad and I, too, very well could end up like one of "them" if I let the madness continue and I would hope that someone, just one someone would show a little kindness to me despite what I'd become.
btw: I gave up bars and all of my bar buddies a year ago. Don't miss a single one of them and they aren't knocking on my door for my company.
Anyway, it is sad, James. It's really sad. I have this fantasy of having a gourmet soup kitchen. Perhaps some day.
