Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I had to start over which sucks on the one hand but being strong enough to do it means to me that I am not hopeless. I can do it! I don't have to drink and drug.
I started going to AA in March since then I have racked up more sober and clean time then all the rest of my adult life. I am 53 and started drinking and doing drugs as a preteen. I didn't know what it was like not to drink or do drugs on a daily basis. I have fallen a couple of times but I can say that I am learning how to be happy without mind altering substances. I love the feelings of normalcy and self worth that I get from living like I always thought was impossible for me. After a fall it is easy to beat myself up for being weak and that is what I do. But after a few days I begin to pick myself up dust myself off and move forwards again. Like they say at the meeting I go to we don't shoot our wounded.
AA may not be for everyone but I feel like it was the best thing I ever did was go to that 1st meeting! If you are struggling with addiction and haven't ever tried it go and be open to it give it a chance it can possibly save your life.
I love the high I get from not being high. I never want to go back to that way of living.
God Bless All!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I've been in AA and sober for a while.
I agree with the things you said about finding a God of my understanding and being able to talk about it.
AA has worked for me through all kinds of stuff.
I love what they say there, "Keep coming back...!"
God Bless All!

I heard yesterday in a meeting, from someone with 24 years of sobriety say that if someone else got up before she did, they had more sobriety than she did. Meaning, all she had was THAT day.
I loved it- it really is the tenant of any alcoholic's sobriety- to take things in small bites, one day at a time. I know it sound cliche' but it is true.
Good for you- stay on course. If you've been sober more than drunk, then your life is better- period.
God Bless All!
