Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Admitting you are wrong is hard. But sometimes it takes years for you to realize it. I left at home when I was 17. Two weeks after my dad hit me. I went through both of my parents addictions and did my best to handle it as any kid could. I have a younger sister, shes 10 years younger than me. I know she never forgave me for leaving her there. But at 17, you're just a kid too. I did all I could to shield her. But I had to leave. I guess right now, I'm looking back at how everything happened. My sons dads family took me in. His mom become my mom in a way. She was able to be that support for me that my mom was never able to be. My mom had me at 16 and her family was not there for her. I understand it better now, in ways I could never understand until I became a mother myself. Over the years I've made so many mistakes and I wake up everyday doing the best I can for me and my son. His dad passed away in 2011. I've struggled with my own addictions, regardless of why I came to that point, I feel like I have such a different understanding now of my relationship with my mom. I understand why she has said and done the things she has. At this point, I'm trying to figure out how to say that to her, or if I should talk to her about it at all. She is in full blown active addiction and that won't change. As much as I'd like to, I am pretty sure I can't. So I guess right now, I'm trying to make peace with that the best I can.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Many years later, all that guilt I had inside me, triggered my own addiction to drugs and then to alcohol and I nearly died from an accidental overdose of narcotic pain killers. They call it accidental but what it means is that my tolarance was so high that I was basicly taking them by the handful just to get my fix.
It took going through an IOP, 3 months of counseling and the 12 steps of AA, to get me where I am today. I am happier then I have ever been. I forgave my parents, and I forgave myself and it was like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.
The best thing you can do for mom is to give her your love. We all make mistakes so I found it best to forgive and let go of the past....It's done.
God Bless
