Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Firstly exactly what is a "programme"?
I had to go. As you know from my previous posts, I tried not to drink, but I could not do it. I needed to go and listen to other ppls stories.
The first couple of ppl who talked, I thought, what the hell, I have not been to prison for drink driving....yet! I have not lost my marriage and kids...yet! I was horrified, I realised this "illness" is taking over me, I need/am desperate to stop it before it gets like that. Sadly one of the ppl said it sounds like I am quite advanced, as we know this is an progressive illness. I was mortified to hear this.
The similarities in their early drinking stories is alarming. Hiding it, having one glass of wine ALWAYS by your side when cooking, and you have 2 others stashed in the cupboard, then blaming the red face on the heat in the kitchen, blaming the burnt dinner in the oven, on the rubbish cooker, then not eating my dinner as I feel so pissed and would rather drink. Oh my god I have just realised my Mother says this! I suspect she is an alcoholic too, in fact I know she is, the similarities are alarming...
I am looking for a day meeting niw as it is hard for me to get to evening ones.
Yesterday I felt dreadful as I had a heavy session the night before. I remember reading to my child in bed, slurring my words, he did not notice, but oh my, if he were older he would. I HATE myself for that!!! I felt ill driving there. I woke every hour last night. I had a headache. I felt sick. I had the sweats and I had the most awful dream, it was about a massive black bull chasing me, it had blood on it. I climbed this very high very thin pointy rock to get away from it. It was really trying to get to me, it was jumping up to try reach me, I was terrified the rocks were going to splinter and I would fall. When I escaped I walked home, but got lost.....I am sure this is significant to what's going on. I'm exhausted this morning. I don't feel I have the energy to go do the usual activities (that I absolutley love doing). I think I may stay home and watch some movies today.
The other week, when I didn't drink for 2 nights, I felt all cocky and yey I can do this! As if it were a joke. This week, it feels real, it feels different,as I know I can't do this on my own, I have a sad realisation that

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

What you are talking about not getting DUI, goal, divorce etc are what is referred to as the 'yets'. Meaning at the moment they are still things that are yet to happen if I keep drinking.
In relation to AA these things are the drama of drinking and for me the reason I know I am alcoholic is because when I put alcohol in I can not control how much I drink. Nothing more nothing less.
As for the dream no bloody idea
Wishing you well G8
What do I do?
AA is a doing program as Coodge Mum says you need to GOYA if you want sobriety. (Get of your arse GOYA)

I don't know if you are going through detox right now, but it might be best to see a doctor if you are less than a few days away from drinking.
