Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I really want to thank each and everyone of you who post on here to help people like myself. I am still on my own journey and have yet to beat it. But everyday or so I read what everyone post and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to write to others to give them some hope. I know one day I will beat this but I don't feel my time is here at the moment. God Bless All Of You

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

YOU choose when the time is right. Not your situation. Not other people. Not the amount you drink. Not your thoughts about it. YOU decide.
Why are you holding back from what you know you want?
Thanks to you too and please know that your post has helped me today.
Only you can decide that it is time to get on the sobriety journey but dont leave it too late. There are several people who are in my thoughts this Christmas because they are gone from us forever. They were good people who tried to get sober but they could not do it and alcoholism took them away long before their time.
When drinking gets out of control it is a bit like being on a train that you know is going to crash at the end of the line. However, there are many stops along the way and you can get off before disaster strikes. When I realized that I had to stop drinking I could have listed dozens of things that happened to alcoholics but that had never happened to me. Despite all of that, I knew that I had to stop. However, I would always promise to get sober tomorrow or next week, never today. Then it slowly dawned on me that those bad things that had happened to other people but never to me were appearing on the horizon the YETS were about to hit me in the face.
I decided to get off before the train-wreck but I needed help in order to do it. Are you going right to the end of the line or is it time to get off now? That one day that you refer to may never come, like it didnt come for those departed friends I mentioned above so how about taking action today? Abraham Lincoln said: The best thing about the future is that it only comes, one day at a time.
Has your day arrived?
My daughter was 3 when I went away to rehab for 3 months. Yes it was hard but without taking care of myself, there would have been no Mother there for her. I had to take care of myself SO I could be a safe presence in her life. 3 months was nothing compared to the time that followed in her life. Such a short term sacrifice to build foundations for long term gain.
Newlife, going to meetings opened a door for me, but it was the work I did outside the rooms that made the real difference. Change was needed. New habits and routines and a while different attitude to where I was headed in a day. I learned so much from people who had travelled a similar path. I did the 12 steps, meditated which previously I would have thought ridiculous, I got up each morning and I walked each day. I changed so much in my life and over time with practice developed new habits and routines.
Don't believe for one moment you can't have that change in your life. Don't be an obstacle in your life. Become committed to take action in your life and make change happen. Your time is here today, if you want it. God bless (Speaking of God, that can make a difference too).
Stick around and have a safe New Year.
