Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I think today is the day I start my journey. I get out of this feeling of sadness and depression. Start to be a better person. Seek the help I need. Find other outlets then a bottle of whiskey. One day at a time. It's just nice to share.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

That was my poison too. And I don’t say that with fond memories.
It only took me one attempt at quitting because I took advantage of a window of opportunity. I had gotten to a place like you that showed me that I needed to change.
I think these windows can close up and we miss our chance until we are ready again. Don’t let that happen. Write yourself notes to remember what journey you want to be on. I promise that if you take it seriously there will come a time when you realize that the path of sobriety will bring you to a place of joy. It’s freedom to not be controlled by a substance.
Starve that addiction, refuse to feed it as it cannot feed itself. Don’t let it deceive you with anxiety.
Keep moving forward through the minefield and don’t look back.
Choose Freedom, choose never again!

It's gonna be 3 months since I posted that. 3 months of sobriety. 3 months that feels like a year. I've done so much in this short time so much I can be proud of and to be able to make peace with myself and everything. I'm owning my life. I'm kicking ass. And it is still 1 day at a time. Things get better. I promise
So, I will send you a high five, and a big, fat, virtual hug, and then you can pat yourself on the shoulder, good job !!!
May your journey be the best one you've ever been on.
