Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Today is day 1 of no alcohol for me after a relapse and 3 month long binge. It always starts out with thinking 1 day won't hurt anything. Now here it is 3 months later and just trying to get it stopped. I also have severe, debilitating IBS. In an effort to stop the pain I insisted they remove my.gall bladder. It was a stupid move that only made things worse. Anyway, I'M back, hopefully for good. But, just one day at a time. Sly

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Congratulations on day 1! Thank you for posting. Today is my day 19 and the first time I've quit drinking since I started many years ago. I drank what I would call normally for many years but after my husband killed himself a couple years ago it got much worse. I didn't realize how bad it was getting until my nephew (36 years old) died a month ago from alcoholism. I used alcohol as a crutch for severe depression and since I've quit I'm much less depressed. I was doing myself in and didn't even realize it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't still think about drinking and I've often thought what harm would one beer do. That's why I'm so grateful for your post. I'm sure the reality is it wouldn't be one beer it would the first of thousands. Thanks again and best of luck to you!

My solution was to talk to some other alcoholics. I just felt better after. This one guy really helped me and told me that the average craving is a max of 24 min. The truth is many of mine are not even 10 mins but it helped me to know that IT WILL pass. He gave me a good talk and I felt better. I was emotional and it helped to talk to another alcoholic.
I pray for you to have better luck with the ibs. That sounds like no fun but I have found that alcohol only makes things better for awhile and then it makes them worse for the rest of the time.
