Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

All,
I had 5 months clean and sober. The crazy thing is that an AA meeting triggered the whole thing. People in AA need to be responsible regardless how long they have been sober. I'm really tired of being talked down to by the people that are supposed to help me. Fuck those hypocrites and assholes! I don't give a flying fuck how long you have been clean, the longer you have been sober the more you should be committed to helping the freshman in the program. Fucl you AA snobs!!!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I do know that U R only human. I have relapsed before.
All I can say is that when you start looking at alcohol in a different light, viewing it as a Poison and Evil in a bottle instead of this wonderful liquid that will bring you good times, joy and happiness, it might not appeal you anymore.
Alcohol has no benefits and will do nothing for you.
No 'support group' should make you feel like your being 'talked down too': your words.
But even if they did, you are the one in control of what you put in your body. I hope it all works out for U.
Sometimes the truth is not what we want to hear and being a sensitive alcoholic I get pissed off at people for telling me what i need to hear not want to hear.
What did somebody say to make you go out and take a drink?

As previously mentioned, we need to look at alcohol as a poison and something that will never do anything good for US. Hang in there, start over and go forward.
You were doing well but having cravings....and didn't feel the same from the beginning of this new sobriety start just like me.
You know and I know that no one can "make" us drink. In the last couple days...my son and some relationships in my life are "making" me want to drink..."pushing" me to escape. I BLAME them...and YES...if they weren't around I may have an easier time in my sobriety.
But, I may also find other things that "make" me drink...like making a necessary phone call yesterday...right before the call I said to b/f...these kinda things make me want to drink. Its true certain things and people...I can very easily blame...and they do give me those feelings of hopeless and need to escape.
Going to the Dr. yesterday and being made to sit there for 2 hours to wait to see him and feeling "trapped"...the liquor store was very attractive. I came very close to relapse yesterday because of that anxiety and anger of being trapped because I NEEDED to see him.
But, I had to keep repeating to myself....no one makes me drink...if I drink it is because I WANT to drink to escape....I'm close to relapsing....so I understand what you are going thru...but ultimately I can blame everyone and everything....but if I do it....I know the reality is the need to drink is already within me and I'm just looking for the reason to get me walking into the liquor store and caving in to my craving to escape.
I hope you can stop again...I keep asking myself...if I am going to drink...am I willing to accept that this stuff is winning and is going to kill me?...I very well might get to the point where I don't give a fuck as well.
Stay away from AA if that is pissing you off right now. I use my counselor right now as a way to say I'm taking care of myself and my alcoholism....Your post was the first one I clicked on this morning because it is so baffling to see who this fucking addiction has gotten again...its scary...this could very well be me...later today typing the same thing.
Just the way I am talking about relapsing is a poor sign. I hope you do have a good friend to talk to...but in the end...when I drink....no friends or groups matter...I get scared...scared that I won't stop....no matter how I talk about it....I know your scared...and I'm sorry for you that this happened.
Maybe you should find a different group, get a sponser and do the steps.
Good luck!
You are clearly angry right now...and it is understandable.
I know you were apologizing to everyone...and not me...and maybe it did offend someone..but I look way to deep into things...and I was thinking when I read your apology..yup, the guilt of drinking making us feel extra sensitive and is he really sorry for swearing? Or just feels like he should be because he has attended AA for so long and they specifically (brainwash) into not using profanity?
AA saved my life and maybe did make me think about my language and its effect on others but.....
I particularly like going to NA meetings...I don't use drugs....but I have been to a couple NA meetings with friends and one of the main reasons I like going to NA is because they SWEAR freely....swearing seems to hit the emotional height of the story or situation giving me stronger emotions...and many times in those meetings...swearing evokes laughter.
I find the people in NA to be more real...because of the swearing..they don't think or form their experiences to fit the audience, they don't wear masks...they are able to be themselves...and If I were to go back to any meetings although I'm a recovering alcoholic I would prefer NA.
In AA they mention not to swear. Because of my rebellious personality....I want to be myself and be accepted as myself...and part of me showing emotion is swearing.
i am glad you did not let your decision to have a few drinks totally derail you. Too often it seems that people think, "oh well, I drank, I'm back to day one, so I might as well keep drinking." Much better to learn from it and get back on track. So kudos for that.
A comment on triggers... triggers don't make you drink. You choose to drink. But situations (bad or good), memories, associations, and habits can trigger the desire to drink. It is good to recognize when this happens so you can figure out why and break that connection.
