Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I used to be very active on this forum about 6 years ago. I am 3 years sober after a brief relapse in 2014. When I was on here, I lived alone in an apartment and struggled with sobriety for about 25 years. I now am happily married, have a gorgeous baby and own a home. Just wanted to say that it's never too late. I had a baby at 41 years old after getting sober. Don't give up! Just wanted to offer some encouragement. :)

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Welcome back and congratulations on your improved life. I was going to say ‘on your good fortune’ but I know that it is work rather than fortune that gets results.
I agree completely – it is never too late.
Keep coming back.
God Bless
I remember you well. Even when you were down and beaten you had a passion for life and a willingness to get up to try again. Nice to "see you" again!
Giving back, remembering that it is just as important to support, encourage, and speak the message of recovery, directly so the new person can have hope, strength, and find a better way to live, is one of the most important principles we have as a resource.
Great to hear your miracle, I know the misery of trying to quit alone in an apartment, almost a certain recipe for more misery and less power. I remember how much of a relieve it used to be when I would some how leave that apartment and end up at a meeting. That desire ended up being the cornerstone for a sponsor appearing, and the rest is history!
Thank You.
Yes, it is not too late and we don’t have to be a statistics of researchers who say we cannot overcome these barriers of addiction!
Have a wonderful and blessed day! Praying for you and your family.
