Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

How many meetings a month do you go to? Or does it matter? Do you even go to meetings? Are there some meetings you won't go to, consequently, are there some meetings you won't miss?
I like a mix of newbies and people with 20-30 years sobriety. I never tire or hearing the stories. like the one from the old vietnam vet who came out of the war an alcoholic and saw horrendous things he will never forget, while there.. he came back a changed man who self treated his ptsd with alcohol. His name is Tom.
Tom was driving home from work one night and very drunk. He had a buddy with him. Got in a bad bad car accident. Both he and his coworker were thrown from the vehicle. The cops couldn't even tell who was driving and the two vets couldn't remember.
A lady and her six year old daughter happened to be driving by and stoped upon seeing the carnage ahead of them. Both were severely injured and is a miracle both survived. The lady asked her daughter to watch Tom while he lay there covered in blood on deaths doorstep, so that she could go tend the other man.
Fast forward 10 years later and the girl, now sixteen, by chance happened to be at the same meeting Tom was at. She walked up to him after the meeting and asked him if he could remember the accident he was in and he said he was so drunk at the time, he couldn't. He only remembered opening his eyes briefly and seeing a young girl sitting next to him holding his hand.
She told Tom, that young girl was me. My mother was sure you were going to die and she didn't want you to die alone so she asked me to stay with you.
Subsequently, the girl had nightmares about it, suffered from PTSD, became a drug addict to self medicate the emotional pain she was in, and was currently in recovery for it. She was happy to meet Tom and to see he made a full recovery but upon learning of that little girls fate and the sacrifices she made so he wouldn't have to die alone, Tom vowed never ever to take another drink and risk doing that to another child!
They say there is no such thing as coincidence and I believe that. All of us in recovery have a story to tell and I believe we should tell it.
God Bless!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I go to my home group as much as I can and several others thru the week...sometimes just one or two weekly sometimes like last week I went to 5 one was an online AA meeting...that is sort of new twist for me since going over to the www.intherooms.com website and getting involved in chat....like the site alot...more 12 step work done there than ever in my 16yrs of sobriety and this is maybe my fifth month there...LOL
Like bill, I don't count how many meetings I go to but I don't go to a lot of meetings because I have quite a few other AA commitments.
There are no meetings I wouldn't go to - I have ones I prefer but if it's AA it's good enough for me.
I also meet with my sponsor most weeks in addition.
When i was first in AA I went to meetings pretty much everyday as I had nothing better to do. After a couple of years I cut down to 3 or 4 and about 2 years ago I cut down to my home group every week and others as necessary.
No meetings for me. Well, not true. I go to lots of meetings. Just not AA.
I got to atleast 3 meetings a week, my home group, a womans meeting and one is a BB study...I usually go to a couple more in the week too, and they vary....
I likeAA meetings with both new comers and long term too...I think I love them all....except when the talk goes too much to drugs only...
I am so grateful for meetings and everyone who shows up!! I would NEVER have made it this far without them and everyone in AA :)
I love meetings. I love the shares. I've never gone to a meeting I didnt get something out of
