I like to think of myself as the Andy Rooney of DS. the warmhearted curmudgeon whose tag line is, "Death is a distant rumor to the young."
I've watched a lot of people younger than I hop on and off this recovery carousel, and the simple truth is that most of them are dead. So if I come across sounding as if I see this this place as a makeshift M*A*S*H unit where most of the patients don't make it, well, that's the reality of this disease I've been living with it for a long time.
So when I watch chronic slippers handing out their wit, wisdom and advice like candy-coated arsenic, I confess that often the only way I can respond without cracking is by taking a Hawkeye's view of it..
