Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Got messed up again last night. I don't know what gets into me. Yesterday started good enough. Somewhere through the day I decided it would be okay to just drink a few beers. I ended up getting way drunk and doing several drugs through the night. Didn't get home until after daylight.
I guess I will just have to start again at being clean and sober.I hate very much the way I feel about myself right now!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Until you sort out how you are feeling about yourself you will probably keep repeating what you did last night. Other people will tell you about other ways but here is my suggestion.
Go back to Step 1 with a good sponsor. Accept that you cannot drink or drug.
Since what you are doing under your own guidance is not working, maybe you need a spiritual approach. You can see where you are right now and if you look at people who are sober and free, maybe you can see where you would like to be. You then need to make a decision are you going to stay where you are or are you prepared to do what it takes to get to where you would like to be.
There is a process there for you that will allow you to look at yourself and to make changes. When you have done that you will be in a position to move past the guilt and other emotions that you are feeling now.
The time will come then when you can examine recent events with a clear head and decide if you need to make amends. If you honestly decide that you cannot deal with a particular situation because of the hurt it would cause to another party, you will find another way to make amends, maybe not directly to that person, but in some manner that clears the guilt.
Therefore my friend, you have a decision to make.

Also, I would check out Step 1 in NA to address your drug addiction.
I've had many close friends fall by the wayside because they got to AA with a needle in their arm and never took Step 1 when it came to drugs. And when they relapsed, it was on drugs.
Best wishes Barry,

Even though you try to put people under control, it is impossible. You cannot do it. The best way to control people is to encourage them to be mischievous. Then they will be in control in a wider sense. To give your sheep or cow a large spacious meadow is the way to control him. So it is with people: first let them do what they want, and watch them. This is the best policy. To ignore them is not good. That is the worst policy. The second worst is trying to control them. The best one is to watch them, just to watch them, without trying to control them.

Tomorrow is a new day, day 1.
I've always hate having day 1 AGAIN... That's the worst feeling for me.
Please try to figure it out so you won't feel like this again. It sucks, I been there many times. Were getting to old to be doing all-nighters and other 'activities'. Our body and mind can only take so much mental torment.
Good luck on your journey to recovery and God Bless!
