Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Maybe the question Ashley is do you have a desire to stop drinking, because that's all you need .
What I have to keep drilling into my head is that alcoholism at this point for me is the inability to CONSISTANTLY control how much I drink... to go into a night saying no more than 2 and never wind up having 4-5...
For me, if I got to the point where I could NEVER control it, I think I'd be in a much worse place than I am...having caused more pain & shame for me and my family -- and in a more difficult place to take control back from this devil... gotta get him down before he's get me in a stranglehold!
It's pretty simple. After you've dumped alcohol (and other drugs) into your brain, it can not operate properly or efficiently. The only hope you have to recover is to quit drenching your brain in alcohol. In this case, the horse MUST come before the cart! The horse is the "quit drinking."
Don't try to "analyze" your way out of this. Just quit drinking and get help (not necessarily in that order). YOU MUST quit drinking.
