Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

"""That virus attacks the lungs? Do you know how alcohol is expelled from the body?" He said...... I replied, "It gets burned off by the liver, doesn't it?" He said, "No! Not all of it. It gets exhaled through the lungs!....That crony virus don't stand a chance with me!" .... and then he proceeded to tell me the same story about another half dozen times!
When I want to appreciate my sobriety from alcohol, I don't have to travel very far to find a reason!
God Bless
This evening I cooked a healthy dinner, went on a robust walk and came back to some yoga and drinking plenty of water.
That’s pretty much the opposite of my old habits. Certainly better for the immune system.
When I was in the blackout stage of my drinking days (October 2017), my town was evacuated due to wildfires. I am ashamed of how much of an ungrateful person I had become at that point. I was completely inconvenienced. My drunk boyfriend went to a town with his coworkers, and they stayed up drinking and playing poker all night. Me? I was stuck 3 hours away, in a home of a stranger, with kids and family. I was glad they were safe, but it certainly wasn't my priority. I don't recognize that version of me anymore.
Our schools closed for the remainder of the year last week, and I made it a point to thank the teachers for remaining so calm despite the unknown things going on around us. As much as I despise texting, I am grateful that it is an option these days.
Today is my last day of work for at least 3 weeks. I am voluntarily removing myself because the business at my workplace has died down so much, I don't want them to pay me to do nothing. And to be honest, seeing people who should be isolating but are choosing not to come into the store, has given me so much damn anxiety. I keep telling myself that people all have their own way of dealing with the stress of this, and I am not wrong for my feelings. But it's much better I stay at home than try to argue and make anyone feel bad.
I purchased some 10 lb rolls of ground beef from my workplace, and asked them to disperse them to people in need. Our grocery store meat department has completely shut down.
At my last meeting, I offered to help with some sort of video chatting option. On average, there is 10 or so people at our meetings. I am sure those won't get shut down, but I think I will hold off from attending. I've upgraded my phone plan so people can call if they need to. Or I can call if I need to.
For the most part, my house is calm. But there is a lot of worries, with my mother's health issues, and with there being 5 kids in the home. But we are all leaning on each other to keep things going. I think there will be a lot of movie watching in the weeks to come, and I gotta say I am looking forward to it.
There is so much to be grateful for, as well as so much to pray for. I hope everyone stays safe. Our addictions have led us down some odd paths, but here we are getting stronger everyday. Please keep your heads up, and remember to reach out for help if you need it.
Prayers
always happy I don't have to go. Good for you!
