Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hi all went to my 2nd AA meeting last night... There were a lot more people there than the first meeting I went to Monday night... It was nerve wracking but I pushed through my fear and managed to do a share.... I didn't say much just that I'm Manda and I'm an alcoholic and talked a bit about how much I've lost because of this awful bloody disease and how angry I was when drunk and that I'm grateful for the fact that I am sober today and thanked everyone else who shared because I can see the similarities between us all and I am learning so much.... And most importantly I thanked God for giving me the strength and courage to begin to learn how to live life on life's terms.... 1 minute 1 hour 1 day at a time... Did more listening than talking... A guy called Lee did a 25 minute share about his experiences and how he landed up on the streets through boozing... It was eye opening to say the least and I could see the miracle of recovery in him... How well and happy and Sane he was... I thought 'I bloody want some of that' it was truly inspiring.... There were even a couple of people there suffering from cancer brought on by alcoholism yet they were both serene joyful and grateful no self-pity at all.... Again I thought 'I bloody want some of that'.... Then it came time for the chips to be handed out and I was called up for my 24 hour chip because I have been sober 4 days now... Everyone clapped and said well done to me.... I looked round at this room of happy smiles faces all wishing me well... I was moved to tears.... I said 'yay me and yay God' and they all clapped some more!!!... I got several hugs as well... Then at the end we all stood up held hands in a circle and said the Serenity Prayer... And everyone at the end to me 'KEEP COMING BACK!!!!'.... And that is exactly what I intend to do :).... Next meeting is Friday lunchtime.... Can't wait to get there and learn some more.... Not quite ready for a sponsor as I feel I haven't met the right woman yet... The other women I have met there are all early in their recovery (months not years) but I am looking at the Steps and feel I have already achieved Step 1 in that I accept I'm powerless over alcohol and yes I accept my life has become unmanageable because of it... And that I can never drink again.... At least for today if not forevermore.... With the grace of God...
Love from one grateful alcoholic to you all
God bless!!!!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I welcome you on this journey of recovery that we are all on and I hope you continue to come here and share your recovery experiences with us. Many will identify with you and will be helped.
I remember when I got my first 24 hour chip. I actually got two. The first one cam 9 years ago and the second one came 4 years later after I had a slip while going through a divorce, but everything worked out and I am happier now then I have ever been! I wish the same for you!
God Bless
Congrats. I know the feelings you shared. Meeting are very important to me.
You sound like a new person, keep it up!
