Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I go to AA though I'm not really welcome, not really. The buddhist philosophy makes sense to me, the Judeo Christian philosophy that the BB is based on doesn't, you know sinner/saint, black/white, original sin and all that.
I do like AA but I got rid of my big book some years ago when cleaning house. figured it might help someone, just not my cup of tea. I explained to my therapist all the misgivings i have about AA (and there are quite a few) and asked if he thought I should go. He said yes and that i should speak my mind regardless of the majority opinion. His reply boiled down to "are you a man or a mouse?". do I have many friends in AA? No. Do I wish that I did? Yes. Will I filter my speech so people like me. Absolutely Not! This approach has done wonders for my self confidence.
