Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
AA has no monopoly on sobriety. It is a way, however, that has worked for many.
I appreciate the experience, strength, and hope you've shared, also.
I don't attend as many meetings as I did in early sobriety. But I do go because I want to give what was freely given to me... but it doesn't stop there... I have a life where that message of hope is carried over to outside activities. I've come to understand that I can be teachable, and have learned what to do, and what NOT to do, in AA, and elsewhere.
Acceptance... I'm learning, and am reminded not to judge , and read that ' Dr., Alcoholic, Addict' ( 3rd edition, in 4th edition it's entitled' Acceptance was the Answer', I believe)... I read that often.
That story speaks VOLUMES, to me, anyway . And there is also an excerpt on pg. 45 (3rd ed) that states the Big Books main objective...'to enable you to find a Power greater than yourself which will solve your problem."
I have had MANY problems in life... not just alcohol... I read that into those other problems ...therein lies what has helped me not only do not drink, but to live life at a higher level.
I didn't just have a drinking problem, I had a LIVING problem, which I used alcohol to ease the pain of.
