Fundamental Change

Went to a really great AA meeting tonight. After meeting we stood outside and talked about God and what he can do for us. Three months ago I would have said you were crazy if you said I would be at AA and discussing God much less enjoying doing it! My life is so much better now. I never want to lose this feeling of freedom and contentment.

I know what u mean if it wasn't for God I would not be here...I just finally admitted I needed his help and that is what I have been receiving

Yes good for you. I know its amazing how much things change in sobriety. And they keep changing. Change is the consistent so far in sobriety for me. I've also heard that if we arent changing/ growing we are moving back toward the drink. So bring on the growth/ change/ forward motion.

I was born and brought up Catholic but somewhere along the line I lost my way and found the bottle which was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life.

But, my sponser once told me that something good comes out of every bad thing that happens and he was right because I found the 12 steps, live my life by them, and have never been happier!

Hi bbarton,

I hope you don't lose the feeling of freedom and contentment because sooner or later you will find that God is the only way to reach that feeling. Happy you went to such a great meeting. I've been there also and it is so enlightening and wonderful. Keep going to those AA meetings.

It is great to see these changes happening and great to have openmindedness as a quality :)

Reminds me of the Spritual Experience reading at back of Big Book...I was guilty of comtempt prior to investigation so thank you for the reminder.

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
