Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I had a easy time not drinking last night. Despite what was a pleasant dinner and then turned not so pleasant when my husband snapped over the way I packed the leftovers. SO petty. I cam home and was so happy to see my son who came home after a week at school. He missed me. I was happy to see him. Then my husband when to the store and came back with booze. I said I didn't want any. My son looked at me strange. Then my husband proceeded to pour cocktail after cocktail for him and my son. It occurred to me that I might be a lush because this man LOVES to get people drunk. Always has. It's a game to him. I thought to myself maybe my son is safer at college then at home.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

You don't have to live in a toxic environment like that and neither does your son!
I will pray that your Higher Power gives you the strength to make some tough decisions down the road. I think you already know what they are and you will need alot of support. Alanon is a great place to find that support. You can google meetings in your area.
Stop being your husbands doormat!
God Bless!
Is is a shame that your husband is pushing your son to excessive drinking. He should be his father, not his drinking buddy. This is not a good environment for him. You might want to have a talk with your son about it. I doubt you will get through to your husband.
Congratulations for not drinking! Please give yourself a big hug.
Shame on your husband.
I take full responsibility for my addiction, but there were some catalytic measures to it excelling at the rate it did (also my doing). I spent two year in a toxic relationship with a man who REFUSED to drink alone. If I ordered a coke or a fizzy water, he would literally laugh at me and then order me a gin and tonic.
I agree---a blessing your son is getting out of that environment, and I am proud of you for sticking to your guns.
That's why I protect myself right now with anonymity. I never know what my future holds.
I know this is cliche, but he has changed in a positive way greatly since we were married in 1996.
Sorry, I was blabbing. I am not saying your situation is the same at all. I just wanted to share. I just want you to know that you are not alone and I understand how you must feel when he offers you booze and wants you to get drunk with him!
Let's be strong women and say NO MORE together. Ooorah!
