Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Struggled with the wine witch at the normal time yesterday, but slapped her in the face and moved on.
I went to a social gathering last night where the booze was flowing, I drove, to make it extra difficult for me to drink. My god it was hard, there were 3 of us not drinking...it was so hard. Then I noticed how rude and rowdy the drinkers got. I got really paranoid thinking they were all talking about me saying I was boring for being sober. I had nothing to say to then. It was really ANNOYING!!! I left early.
Last night I dreamt some crazy dreams. One in particular upset me. A parent of mine passed away, I was there. My other parent was with me, we had been drinking at the bed side in the parents "honour" (both my parents are/were very heavy drinkers) and this was seen as acceptable and what would have wanted!! any stupid excuse....
This parent was with me in my dream last night deteriorating right in front of my eyes. I was stone cold sober and it was HORRIFIC!!! its as if all these years I have been accepting this passing as part of life. And now its really hitting me all over again. When my parent was diagnosed this was a huge trigger for me.
Up and down eh!!
At least I am not hung over.......:)

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Thank God it was only a dream!
You did the right thing by leaving early. We are all very proud of you for not giving in to the trigger of all the drinking around you. You would NOT be boring to another sober person, only to someone who wants to drag you down with him!
God Bless!
Don't give yourself permission to drink. I heard it a couple times in your post...an honour to your parents, people thought you were boring, being stone cold sober was Horrific.
I have watched people die sober and drunk. Sober is much better because you are able to be "present" and able to do whatever it takes to get the person thru the rough time...instead of being the drunk in the corner crying that you think the loss is all about "you"....
After being sober for a good while, I realized that, unless I had a good reason to go where there was drinking, I should probably skip it. Of course it made me feel giddy to watch those other drunks make fools of themselves, lol. It also served as a reminder that I never wanted someone to think that about me again.
Glad you made through the gauntlet. Press on......!
