I really have that feeling that I'm hanging on by a thread. I know it's probably just my thinking playing with me. I feel like I'm in a strugle by myself. I need to get back to meetings, but right now I have to take care of some things. In two days I'm going to have an oporation. Thats going to put me out for awhile. Also it's going to put me on pain killers. I'm scared of that, but there doesn't seem to be a choice. The person I have relied on for the past nine months is busy traveling. We won't be able to have much contact I guess for awhile. I'm scared right now about if I can handle things. I've always had a fear of being alone. I feel alone right now. I feel that I need someone to just tell me it's going to be alright. I feel like a fool being like this. I'm a grown man, but I seem to need a hug, or to be told it's alright, like a little kid. I could use some prayers right now. Thanks. James

James I read you profile about your problem with pain killers before. Do you have someone in IRL that can monitor them for you? You will be ok. Take things a second at a time if you have to. Good luck with your surgery.

After I got through the worst time of my life,which was the flaming end of my drinking career,I found that life is always going to have its little struggles and tests.That is all it is for you.You can handle it,just try and muster all the support you can.

James, I obviously have no idea about the surgery you are about to have but you could ask them to write you up for pain meds that you can have if you need them rather than have them automatically.

I had major surgery and was advised to agree to be administered pain relief, but I was mindful of my recovery and my previous using history. I didn't need any painkillers whatsoever! I turned myself and my surgery over to the care of my HP and relaxed totally.

Spunky5 suggestion was good about someone else having 'custody' of anything that you might need!

James, maybe there is something else you can take....what kinda surgery is it?

if you are an addict, they have to be able to prescribe something different.

Know that taking the meds for your operation is strictly to relieve temporary pain. The pain will outweigh any dependency and you will be done with it.

Concentrate prior to surgery that the argument of disease is weak in comparison to your thoughts.

You are not alone. I delve in those thoughts myself but they aren't true.

It will be just fine and you will come out healthy to live and keep growing. We will be holding your hand and know it's ok to feel afraid.

You are in my prayers sweet.

James-It IS your thinking playing with your mind. Slap those thoughts to the ground.
You will be okay because you ARE okay. I hope your surgery goes 100%+
Make sure your doc knows about your addictions, though.
Don't you find, though, that walking thru your fears you find yourself stronger even in the midst of that walk? And, James, you KNOW you're not alone.

You are not alone and you have a lot of people here who care. Everyone is afraid of something sometime and everyone needs a helping hand. You have enough to worry about right now without worrying about what happens after your operation you can deal with that when the time comes. Talk to your Doctor I'm sure you can get hands on help there. Be strong, find the strenght you have it in there somewhere I know you have it. There are lots of us here to talk to whenever you want to. You will be ok.

Hi James, you've said so many kind things to people in their times of need. I wish you deep peace with what you have to face. Maybe seeing if someone could manage your pain meds for you would help? When I started my klonopin taper I gave my meds to a friend and they gave them to me so I wouldn't feel compelled to take more. I am here for you if you need me as are a lot of people. I wish I could give you an enormous hug and just say 'James, every little thing is gonna be alright'. Well, I am in my heart. Many blessings to you, James.
