Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have a family situation, in which my hands are tied. My brother and his son live with my elderly mom and dad. I visit daily and it is always complete chaos! My nephew and my brother are both prescription pain pill addicts and Crack addicts. My mom and dad don't have the heart to throw them out. My brother should have been thrown out 30 years ago! He was the one who got my nephew addicted to everything. My mom is awesome, my dad is way too passive, and disconnected. They are constantly rummaging through their bedroom, looking for non-existent pain pills. They are non-existent because they are at my house, I take my mom a few at a time for her to dibby out to my brother. I have changed the combination on the safe 4 times now, because they keep watching and figuring it out. I need a break! I wish they would go to jail for awhile! I'M just tired of the chaos, early sobriety is not easy under these conditions. I am 3 weeks sober today, and when I crave, I immediately try to identify the cause, It's my new recovery strategy for now. I'm trying to learn to control my anger from this whole situation. It's not easy when they are abusing my parents. Sly

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I learned alot in early sobriety, and the most important thing I learned was that I couldn't do it alone. I learned that all I have to do is stay sober and the rest takes care of itself!
God Bless!
If I made my sobriety, happiness or well being contingent on my family getting well.....I'd still be drunk.
So let it go.
Take care of yourself. Focus on your sobriety not their situation.
Their situation sounds like an excuse to drink in the making, and that's not healthy.....
