Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
You owe nothing to anyone, only to yourself...
"how is it possible to stop drinking and not change your old behaviour?
by taking something else like antidepressants?"
yes, life changes when you quit drinking, no question for the better. however, to be truly free of the invisible hold it has on you, I believe most people need to do some drastic lifestyle changes. Sometimes people need antidepressants, but that is only the tip of the iceburg. A person who gives up drinking needs to replace it with healthy alternatives, and also perhaps get down to the nitty gritty of what (outside of genetics) causes them to drink. These things should be dealt with if someone wants to live fully. You can quit drinking, but to go the extra mile and really work to change inside and out that is key to freedom in sobriety.
Your still not drinking, thats the main thing., so ythe way you are doing this, is working for you.... Isnt that all that counts, your not drinking
Be proud of yourself!
