Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
AA not required, just a bit of soul searching. Have a good 24 hours. Marina
BUT, if you WANT to call yourself one, go ahead.
Way to GO!!!!! :):):)
Pretty smart for a Newbee, I say!!!!
I was a dry-drunk for 22 years until I decided to experiment.
If a person is introspective and realistic about their faults and humble enough to acknowledge them and work on them, then to me it's no different than going to AA.
Definition:
A term generally used to describe someone who has stopped drinking, but who still demonstrates the same alcoholic behaviors and attitudes.
Also Known As: Dry, Not Sober
Examples: His behavior hasn't changed at all, he acts like a dry drunk.
Not all fit this discription, but if you think you do, AA sure can help. I know...Been there, done that.
I think that if you're a generally happy person, then there is no need to change anything, but you can't change others either...only try to help them through. Family is the hardest to do that with!
Actually, Al-Anon could help you help your sis too.
you,re an alcoholic, always will be,dry drunk i dunno on that one,you have to do what is safe for you

You've gotten a lot of great advice and your questioned answered.
I just want to add my own experience...when I started focusing on myself and my blessings this whole not drinking thing got a LOT easier.
Thinking about or worrying about other people doesn't help me stay sober at all so I focus on me and when someone hurts me or just plain pisses me off, I say the serenity prayer and talk to people about my feelings. It's a completely different way of handling life. For me, it's a better way.
by taking something else like antidepressants?
if someone stops drinking surely life happens ,and they ajust to make it as comfotable and as least painful as possible, thats change isnt it?
