Does anyone really care?

Does anyone really care about the solution? I was told early on in my attempts at sobriety that if I wasn't part of the solution, I was part of the problem.

I have been a member of DS for several years, a relatively quiet one, but I have always tried to be helpful to those who want help. I don't quite recall on things were when I got here, but I don't like the direction things are going. I don't feel that anyone here wants the solution, just a forum to vent about the general crappiness of life, tell war stories, and whine some more. I hope I am wrong, so I will hang around a little longer and try to be part of the solution.

Very true Chris. That's why I've been in my home group for over 18 yrs. As has been pointed out numerous times, this is NOT an AA board. It's more like an anything goes board. Why would a healthy person stay on here 24/7 anyway?

M, you and I are looking at an 8 month summer!! Gotta love this Texas weather. 92 degrees today. I pray for my roses, LOL!

It is a tragedy for those of us affected by alcoholism. When you come here to tell your story or how you found us, you will invariably tell our stories in the process.

Regardless of whether you whine or not, if you want to find the solution to your drinking problem, maybe we can point you in the right direction.
At the very least, let you know that you're not alone.

Hi...I realise I'm new and everything so I'm not sure whether I'm qualified to comment. But here goes...I think we all have to find our own individual roads to recovery, we're all different people with different personalities, histories and lives and we all handle things in different ways. Some people will whine or get angry and still get there in the end, it's just their way of coping, it would be a boring world if we were all the same! :-) Also, a support group really has to support everyone...even the grumpy ones x

What is an example of whining........as someone newly sober, it takes a long time to recover physically and we often do feel like crap. For many of us this is the only place we have to share our struggles. I can't go to work and say....."wow, I'm exhausted and everything feels crazy....."
This is after all a SUPPORT group site.

Temple76 - that's a good point, not everyone would feel able to talk about the bad days with work colleagues. I certainly couldn't and I have no family, and these days I have aquaintances rather than friends so can't talk to them either. Oh dear, I've just re-read that and realised, once again, how crappy things have got! Ah well...ever onward and upward :-)
