Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Reading the news yesterday, two stories enraged me and stole away some spirit last night. The first had to do with people being an accessory to law breaking, in which they were charged as if they did the crime themselves, and the second was a person very selfish using a business to make a name for themselves then bailing on that business when it needed help more so than in the past.
I can already tell my morning mood isn't able to just push my opinion of the two realities aside without doing the steps on them. I know I am an alcoholic and stories that in my opinion are rife with injustice, produce overwhelming amounts of negative feelings within me. I know that is a mental thing, and it can be none of my business if it is not personally affecting me. The only instinct it is affecting is my social instinct, and if I am honest, the only reason why I am bothered by the stories is it will decrease my opportunities to brag to others or utilize pride as a tool to survive. I would have argued the judge in the first case was not a problem prior to the over the top sentencing, and I would have argued the person in the second story was a large reason why our community is better than others.
The reality of the matter is I had no personal ties to either the judge or the person and my opinion of the two was fueled by nothing but no investigation into their capabilities to disappoint, or who they were character wise. I see now, I dodged a bullet with this news because I would have been seen as a fool arguing on their behalf by people who are elite in terms of reasonable comprehensions.
I have to give my thinking over to God more readily, and that is ok, because as I grow in sobriety, it's not the huge obstacles that can steal precious time of enjoyment for myself and others, but these little shots of displeasure that if built up over time, can really compress a need to stay sober, in a negative way.
The saving grace is I saw prayer for the unfortuante parties was due course, and tried to present a positve message to others also seeking to understand the reasoning. The most intriguing part is I do now that I am doing the right things have the power to move on and not pay attention to that sector of reasoning because based on the actions I now have a personal reason to deem it not something I want to invest my time in. Me knowing I am not so powerful like my ego would like to be that, that decision will not affect others in the future, and it is what an adult does, makes me very grateful.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Only by going inside myself through the practice of meditation, was I able to find peace and happiness. I am not upset by things going on in the world because I don't give it the power to upset me.
There is a really good book you should read and many AA meetings have this book. It's called "Acceptance, The Way To Serenity and Peace of Mind" by Vincent P. Collins. It's only 24 pages long but every line is laid in like a brick. It changed the way I think totally. I won it in an AA raffle at a meeting I almost didn't attend but changed my mind at the last minute....funny how that works!
God Bless
