Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Not saying this to be negative- it's just a fact of life. If you have a good relationship with these people, then they may help you through some type of program. If not, then sometimes you have to do it quietly. I've always been in small business though, and the options for employer sponsored recovery programs have been limited or non-existent. It doesn't mean that there isn't any help out there.....it simply means you may have to find it elsewhere. That being said, I'm sure Howto knows her corporate culture well enough to make the decision.
Keep the faith girl... Praying for you.
Nobody ever left me out for emotional death -- so I am not gonna do that to you either. Brush yourself off and come on.
All of us have expereinced our consequences, and some of us are still expereinceing them. Deal is we are learning that we can live sober no matter what. Even if our arse falls off. Use your tools because, we got work!!!!
Love you deeply,
Darrell
So far, no repercussions at work. Doesn't matter. I'm done fucking around. I won't have another scare like that. Either way, I am going to come clean with the employer.
I have scheduled an assessment at a rehab facility for 2:30 today.
WOW
WOW
I am proud of you
Better let us know everything that happens!!! lol
Best to you
Love ya Olive, very proud! :)
And I wonder how supportive is this group when they excuse bad behavior. Just because somebody is drunk doesn't mean they shouldn't be held responsible for what they say and do.
Isn't part of support holding each other accountable?
I'm not harmed in any way, shape or form when someone posts drunk here so what would be the point other than to shame someone who is already shamed to the core?
How does it help her to tell her that the things she has done are not her responsibility but the "disease's" fault?
I think Anna will tell you I'm no hand stroker.
My point here is why should a drunk have to apologize here or "earn" our respect back? The damage done to self is much graver than that done to anyone on this site.
Compost, Of course, we are accountable for our behavior but can you please tell me why she would owe anyone here an apology?
She didn't wreck my car or get violent with me or puke on my favorite shoes so I'm not getting why you think she owes a bunch of strangers an apology(?).
Your right when you say your looking for something. I was looking for the jigsaw pieces of my life, but could never find them. It did start the day I looked in the mirror. "What have I become?" was the first question. The next one was "Who am I?". And no, wouldn't have found that here. Support here most definately, but I found out who I was by looking inside myself. And needed guidance to do so. Not three steps, but all twelve of them.
St Pats day? lol, I got sober in the Navy with a maiden name of O'K.... Good to enjoy St Pats day sober which is today here. My Irish family motto is "Nothing is Difficult to the Brave and Faithful."
To be sure... to be sure...
If someone wants to post drunk, whine, "pity pot," scream, cry, vent, rant.... whatever.... That is what the site was designed for. I personally have admiration for those who can reach out for help and post their struggles. It's different for everyone.
I like RR's postings because a lot of the time they are really similar to what is going on with me and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I think a lot of people are afraid to post out of fear of being shamed and bullied.
Hands down to the ones to have to guts to do it!
Howtolive, keep moving forward ;) You are doing hard work on yourself. You never lost my respect for you. I actually admire you more.
Peace:)
I get you. I was you. I want you to get "it" too but your sobriety isn't up to me. I drank for a long time and can only tell you that I woke up one day and couldn't live with the booze and couldn't live without it. That was my point of desperation.
The disease of alcoholism doesn't play favorites. Neither do I. We're all in this together. You just don't realize that yet.
