Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Well I made one day. Nice headache going and realized I'm not going to the bathroom much (neither one) so have some orange juice with sparkling tonic in it. I've just moved and the water is not that great so need to get a filter system set up.
I work evenings so got home about 6am (MST) and chewed down my nails for two hours until they bled. I can feel how sore they are just typing. I literally mutilated 4 of them.
No Irish coffee to help me sleep, and no wine/vodka today until I lay back down a few hours before work. I felt panic this morning when I got home, like my routine was being taken away and how could I ever find another after it took years to fine this one?
I felt like I should be allowed to have my routine, I'm in the middle of my divorce and have just moved out and am alone. All sorts of feelings going like "wait, I'm good at this drinking thing".... "what am I going to do with my time"?
Working nights is certainly a bit of a challenge as something as simple as seeing a movie is not possible, and I live in downtown Denver so taking a walk at 2am isn't always the best idea.
I did, however, make progress on my divorce and turn in some vital information that I was using drinking to allow myself to procrastinate completing it.
So, if anything that alone was a success.
Here we go on day two. Thank you for reading.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I totally get where you are coming from. Eerily so.....lol.

And always remember, just because you think it is small now, doesn't mean it isn't big later. Any step is a step forward, even if it is a crawl.
You will find that there is a world of activities to do once you are on the right track. You can do this.
Just before I stopped drinking I at a loss as to how I would pass the time as everything that I did revolved around drinking, both at a bar and at home. Not saying that this is the answer for you but what I did was to go to AA meetings six nights per week for the first three months. Since I was too embarrassed at that time to go to a local meeting, I drove for an hour there and an hour back so along with the actual meeting it took up nearly four hours of the evening.
I see that there are an amazing 1134 AA meetings in Denver every week.
