Day 4

So been clean 4 days now. I used to not count my days, but it’s helping me. I went to another meeting yesterday night. Two meetings in one day. The late nights are hard for me so I figured might as well try out the night owls meeting. It’s at the same place the noon meetings I went to are. They have meetings all day and night there. Today I spent the day with my son. I’m thankful for another day sober and for all the support everyone here has given me. Thanks everyone.

Giving thanks for another sober day is important. I counted the days in the beginning also. It’s a little boost to the confidence that has been eroded by fear and shame. Eventually you will identify yourself as a sober person and the past will hold less pain.

There is a time at the beginning where everything is hard. Since booze was the easy way to get rid of problems, without booze problems seem huge. But this is normal life and with a little time and effort you will learn how to cope without popping a cork. Hiding in a bottle. Life is waiting for you. Go get it

There is a spiritual aspect of AA that people don't like to talk about and if you ask someone about, you will usually get a smile because most know that it works. They don't know why and they don't know how but it just works. Every time I attended a meeting, I always felt better after and had a good day. Here is author Paul Hedderman's explanation of it:

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
