Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hello, Giving an honest try at sobriety. I've been binge drinking everynight for the past 7 years and eventhough I'm able to function in the sence that I'm a responsible person, have my own business and there is no major drama on my life. I don't hang around bars or parties. what I do is basicly isolate myself at the end of the day and drink 8-10 beers everynight. I excersice regularly and drink a lot of vitamins and supplements wihich have helped me stay myself pretty healthy but I know that if I continue to drink the way I drink everyday things will get ugly sooner or later besides I have become very anti-social. I rather stay at home and drink than to go out and get drunk and risk getting a DUI or getting in an accident.
Anyway, today is my 4th day without a drink, the first three days were not easy but thank God I have been able to make it so far. I really want to remain sober, I'm tired of the isolation and the waist of money and life.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Just before I started my journey to sobriety my injuries were so painful I was having to wear knee supports during any form of exercise and constantly had back and shoulder pain .
16 months of sobriety (apart from 2 one night relapses) I don't need to wear any knee supports anymore, I no longer have lower back pain and I can now sleep on my right shoulder and move it on a circular motion.
Even though I always ate healthily I gained weight due to the drinking and the weight gain also affected my performance at the gym.
I've now managed to shift nearly all of that weight and fitness wise I feel like I did in my 30's!
So what I'm trying to say is that alcoholism isn't prejudiced and therefore even the most avid fitness/healthy person can become alcoholic. The illness is progressive and as you are already starting to isolate yourself and your drinking, it is no doubt the best decision you've made to become sober - so well done for making that first small step.
Echoing Bobs words you do need some support so it's important you seek that from family friends and outside programmes. You should also go and see your doctor for advice - you may need help to figure out any underlying factors that cause you to pick up the bottle!
Good luck and keep us all informed on your progress x
Much love.
Praying for you! May God’s richest blessing be upon you on this journey of recovery
