Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hi, I am a former drunk who is grateful for the last 11 1/2 years free from alcohol. With the virus pandemic my business has frozen and after a couple of weeks of not doing much, I thought it best to spend this new time helping others who may be struggling. After a quick search I found this site, so here I am.
Back when I quit, a few anonymous strangers online helped me make the breakthrough. Perhaps I can help you.
Quite simply, it was the greatest decision I ever made. After stepping away for a while I quickly realized that most, if not all of the drama in my life was the result of alcohol. Today, I am "addicted" to feeling good and living without chaos.
For me, freedom from addiction requires taking responsibility. I reject the disease concept and being powerless and focus on personal empowerment. YOU can do this, if you truly want to, starting right now.
Choose Freedom, choose never again!
I am here for anyone who thinks I may help them.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Sounds like alcohol affected you like it did me. Think of it this way. When you have this problem, it’s like being in a form of slavery. You didn’t realize it in the beginning of your drinking career, but it’s obvious you do now. If I drank again, it would be like putting myself back in those chains. Your using of alcohol is self induced slavery, and based on your message, you know it.
Sure, I have a backstory, but what it finally came down to was something clicked in my head to never do this again. I PROMISED MYSELF that I would do whatever it took necessary to escape this hell, and I did it. Once I made that choice my life changed dramatically for the better. Miracles happened that I could never have even imagined.

When I took that leap of faith and went through an iop followed by AA, it was the best decision I ever made. Shortly after,.... things began to happen and they were far to numerous and often to be called coincidence..... I had money coming from places I never expected, I got a new job which I really liked, and my relationships improved dramatically. It blew my mind when I thought about it. It all made me search deeper into the 12 steps for the meaning behind all of it and I have since branched off into other spiritual teachings.
Every day is a new adventure and life became worth living again.
Thankyou for coming here!
God Bless
welcome to the group, continued success!

BobinMaine, I would like to hear more about your story and how you gained employment after being in such a low place.
I’m unemployed at this time and concerned that I won’t be able to get another job that is good enough for my husband’s standards.

Go to rational.org and read about AVRT, or addictive voice recognition technique. You can also go to YouTube and see videos on it, and also do searches for other people just like you who that put up testimonials on why and how they quit drinking.
Don’t let a liquid poison that you have to willingly pour down your own throat, rob you of any more time in your precious life. You are powerful, you can do this. Your future self will thank you for your decisive action from today. I promise!
