Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Suggest you STOP now.
(ducking)
Bad joke, I know, sorry...Anyway, my whole last year or so of drinking was one long string of blackouts. I only remembered the first 10 minutes or so of drinking, then poof. It was a hellish daily cycle of starting to drink, then waking up in a hospital/jail/CT scanner/stranger's bed/whatever, walking out of hospital/jail/whatever, starting to drink, waking up in hospital/jail, etc. I couldn't do anything anymore without OD'ing on it, alcohol or whatever (I know this is an alcohol group). This was a very big thing to me, because it was only at the latest part of my disease that this happened. I used to be the one everyone would assign to remember things for them because I always seem to keep my cognizant functions intact when drinking. Scary.
I remember hearing somewhere that blackouts were a symptom of alcoholism versus "lesser" forms of problem drinking. I wonder if this is still true.
You THINK you are safe and sound and YOU may physically be, but no telling what your actions were, the words you lashed out at people, if any, and THANK GOD - you didn't wake up in a drunk tank from a black out - by killing a family while you were drinking and driving or hurting somebody while drinking or driving or causing property damage while drinking and drivings - sounds like by the Grace of God you made it home -
I would be thinking more along the lines - what the hell do I need to do to stop drinking.
Just a little confused on what you are seeking in this post- a pat on the back, a little assurance it won't happen again? What?
PEace!
