Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
There is a way out.
PM me if you need to.
As your kids get older they will realize it. They probably wont say anything, but don't fool yourself into thinking they are stupid. My guess is the oldest may already know.
There's a way out, but only you can take action. What's it gonna be?
PEACE to you
in time. I did not have children, but i imagine as they get older they would rather see you and know who you really are, not someone that thinks the best way to have fun and enjoy themself is always with a drink in hand.
Remember they will imitate you when they get older. You are both their role models.
Best of luck.
You can't change the fact you've missed moments and can't remember parts of their special days, but you can change the path your on, and fill your heart with wonderful memories with the time you have now and in the future with your family. The buck stops with you MrJ.
I couldn't do it alone, and it's not looking like you can either. That or your just not ready. I hope you get ready, for your sake and that of your families. Because it will get worse. We're here to support you. Time to take some action yeah.
GBP- my kids know I drink, they have seen me drinking but at their age they don't know what the beer does for me. It won't be long before they do know and that scares me.
Sober- Your avatar made me laugh because one of the pictures I don't remember taking was of a spoon with alphabet soup on it that my oldest daughter had spelled out "DAD"
When you stop loving it, start needing it, grow to hate it and keep drinking despite your best intentions, you're there.
your wife isn't necessarily accepting who you are - but she's not the one that can change you - she's definitely enabling you - but the sadest part of this story is what you are doing toyour children, if you can't get sober for yourself - you are setting a pattern for your children to live a life just as you are - and that's pretty sad.
Peace!
That was before I knew I was a drunk.
we go where our focus is. If you want to make this healthy life style change, yet are focused on the so called "benefits" and "love" for alcohol, then it will not be easy to give it up.
