Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I really thought it awesome that several responses came about from my asking of why the little amounts of participation. I like the quality over quantity input, I didn't know I was running people away with my honesty and character, I'll be more considerate of that going forward. I really enjoyed the actual reason why when the site changed, or was bought out, people's frustration with the technology was why the exodus occured.
My mind was telling me it telling itself that coming to DS each day, more supportive than a waste of time, might be wrong, so that is why I threw the carrot out there to see if people were actually interested in anything here, and I see now that yes, people still do participate and the number isn't so important as how they still do.
Anyway, have a great day and I just wanted to again say, thank you.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

there has been considerable popular press on the social impact of misogyny (hatred of women). misandry (hatred of men) seems socially blessed. poor girl. how right you are to hate the evils of men. never mind that harboring hatred burns holes in your soul. those evil creatures are worthy of all the hate we can muster.i have 5 brothers, 5 sisters and 3 sons and 2 daughters. i hold that misandry is...

I am sober due to this group, regardless of whether there are 5 people or 5000. So for this little Australian gal, my life changed because of a handful of people that have supported my sobriety, answer my multitude of questions, and accept me - regardless of all my idiosyncrasies :)
I work with people with complex mental health issues, in my job, if I can get one person to get out of their rooms & have a good day, that is success for that day. Numbers don't matter, what matters is the difference it made for that one person...................I feel this group is the same, we gotta stop focusing on how this group used to be, what matters is this group today, and this moment right now.
I will say, it is lovely to hear from the Fred that is speaking from his heart, and speaking his truth, thankyou :)
I'll make an effort to post more often.
I'm relatively new here and, for me, personally, being a newbie here is intimidating in a way (11 weeks sober yesterday!!! Woo hoo!!!). I can see the relationships that have already been formed with quite a few of the members that post frequently, and it almost seems like I'm an intrusion - or not part of the clique.
That being said, none of you have ever done anything to perpetuate that feeling - that's all on me.
I have, however, reached out to a few members to be "friends" and have not received any reply or "add" so to speak. I don't know how important you all think that is but, I have only one friend here, and that friend truly made the difference for me by reaching out early on... so for that alone I will continue with this group. Maybe that sort of thing - reaching out early -"friending" people - if done by more members, would keep the newer people here and active.
Just like AdelynRene said, I do read every post every day, and it does help. I'm also grateful for everything and everyone here.
My friendships have deepened due to posting my journals, and people reaching out, commenting, giving me helpful advice, calling me out when I have stuffed up, or just showing me that they care.
I was the same about Fred, I got angry, pissed off, was screaming in my head, I felt like he spoke to us but didn't listen. I then started thinking about it, and decided I wouldn't respond & would just let him be Fred.
I am now starting to learn about this Fred that is beginning to open up, and is keeping it real. Fred has taught me not to judge, we all stuff up at times, or write something that can irritate people, (I have done this many times), or have gotten a response that got me mad.
I realize that I learn a lot when this happens, and it is always something to do with me, not them.
Sobriety is like a never ending rollercoaster, so many emotions, reactions - I got told something in a message yesterday which has been like a lightbulb going off in my head.
there are only two emotions:
One is "Love" & everything else is "A call for Love" x
