Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I don't know for sure when I joined this group, maybe a year ago, scared because I couldn''t stop with just one. My husband and I weren't living together. He was finishing graduate school in New York and I live in Arizona. He was the one who helped keep me sober and the fact was he didn't know I had a problem. It was my mom and dad who found out and after a few relapes I found myself in AA at least twice a week and in Al Anon once a week with my younger sister.
Today I am almost 7 month sober. I read many of the group replies and find them encouraging in helping me keep on the right path. I am also in my second trimester of a pregnancy, and my love for my unborn child is a huge motivation for me. Plus on June 2nd my husband will be coming home to stay and I have never had a drink with him around. He is there to help me as well and I really pray I have my drinking problem solved.
One of the concerns I have deals with being alone. With my job I have to occasionally travel and spend one or two nights alone in a hotel. The urge to drink is really strong when I am in that situation. I worry once the baby is born I will have the urge to drink and fail when in a hotel situation. I make very good money at what I do so I don't want to quit my job but I also don't want to fail at my sobriety. Pray for my continued sobiety.
Anyway thanks for listening.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Congrats on 7 months
I was able to create the future I wanted, just by focusing all my thoughts and energies on the "here and now", which was the only thing I had control of. It worked great but I would sometimes have a mental lapse and forget what was working. but rather then punish myself with a negative thought, I would forgive myself and move on.
When I let worry creep into my life was when I felt triggered to take a drink so I had to be vigilant and be on the lookout for that little worry thought and I would tell myself, "as long as I stay sober, there is absolutely nothing to worry about!"
Congratulations on being 7 months sober! That's a huge accomplishment and you deserve alot of credit!
God Bless
Honestly for me I needed to have a group of other alcoholics and I would call them when I was leaving town and just say I’m checking in and I plan to be back on ... and I will call you then. Just saying it out loud and having an accountability partner helps
Congrats on the time you have. You can do this

When I was in the program
( I’ve relapsed:( but when I use to travel a lot with my work and staying at really nice hotels I found it extremely challenging I wanted to be at the bar and “normal..” ... and just have a couple of glasses of wine at the bar like everybody else . However I played it all in my head and was honest with myself and realized that I would’ve never stopped it too and most likely would have blacked out not know how I got up to my room ;(
So the other thing I would do is find a meeting obviously a new part of town and treat yourself to something nice like room service and a movie .
Hope it’s heloful
i wish u well God bless
