Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Today is Day 1, again, since I gave into the anxiety and drank last night. Feel ok this morning, just disappointed in myself. I know drinking only makes the anxiety worse. I know feelings won't kill me. I know I should have ridden it out and allowed myself to feel.
But I didn't. I just needed to write this down somewhere, maybe get some feedback.
It's a new day, I guess.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The person with six months, five years, twenty years sober or more started out with a Day 1, so welcome to the sober club.
While drinking may help with anxiety at the start, it soon gets to a point where it is a major cause of more anxiety, as you have now discovered. There may also be other causes so, if you have not already done so, it would be wise to have an honest talk with the doctor to determine if you need medication or professional help.
Like many other people, I found that despite my best efforts, I could not stay sober for more than a few days. I would find some reason to justify drinking and although those reasons seemed completely genuine at the time, I can see now that they made no sense. I didn’t know it but I had become obsessed with drinking and would always find a way to justify it.
It was only when I did what I swore I would never do, and went to an AA meeting that it all changed for the better. What are you going to do differently this time?
Over 9 years ago, I made a decision that changed my life for the better when I walked through the door with the sign hanging on it which read, :AA meeting Inside!"
Today I have a great life and I have never been happier!
God Bless
Reset the clock :) Another day, another chance!
Sending strength and support!
