Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I craved sweets massively in early sobriety. I still do, more than when I drank for sure....and you know what? I eat some. I also eat a great plant based diet so its a vice I'm OK with.
On the shopping thing...I hear you there too.
I have to constantly slow down, think about it, and then if I really want/ need then I'll buy. Most things I not only don't need, I don't actually *want.* I have a pretty great career so I can afford to go overboard but I've recognized it as swapping addictions in some ways to I curtail it. Big time.
Still i can surf Neiman Marcus, Saks, and Gilt hours if I'm not careful. Ugh.
I've learned that I started to drink socially (believe it or not at the ripe age of 47) and that it escalated quickly. I believe that my drinking was out of control when I became spiritually bankrupt. My understanding of my higher power has evolved because what I grew up with and understood as a child had left me bereft of what I needed.
If you aren't actively participating in a support group like AA, I encourage you to do so.
Hang in there and enjoy sobriety! Life is SO much better without the drinking!
Coffee anyone!
God Bless!
