Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have been an alcohol addict for the past three years and not able to quit from it. The maximum days which I can live without it is may be three to four days. I lost my previous job all due to my drinking and drug intake. I am noticing my stress, depression, and worries are taking over. I feel like a loser with no job. I wish I could get rid of these feelings. Now I have taken a decision to take the treatment from Edgewood health network, an alcohol addiction treatment centre in Calgary(http://edgewoodhealthnetwork.com/calgary/#! ). Hoping someone can give me thoughts on what I should do now. Thank you.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Wish the best to your future.
Like you, many of us have also had to experience great loss in our lives in order to finally make the life-changing decision to finally confront our addictions. I understand the depression and worries that you are currently facing, but would hope that you would try instead to focus on the new life that you about to enter. It's not going to be easy, but I assure you that it will be worth it.
Since willpower alone has not been successful for you in the past, the Edgewood addiction treatment centre sounds like an excellent option. How soon could you start treatment?
I'm glad you reached out to us and look forward to further updates.

It gets better and you can have the most amazing life. Just have to break the cycle. I too would quit for 1 or 2 days and HAD to go back. The only way I found to stay was to start a program of recovery involving a meeting and talking with other alchies daily.
My last drink was june 9, 2012. Life is waiting for you. cmon!

Look, go to treatment. Dont even bother to second guess. No job, family, holiday, date, is worth putting it off. EVERYTHING can wait until you are back on your feet, healthy and ready to fight.
Treatment trumps everything. Go! Get well. You can do it!
We are all naturally afraid of things we don't now much about, but just go there with an open mind and I am sure it will be a life changing experience for you just like it was for me!
May God walk with you on your road to recovery and guide you along the way!
God Bless!
