Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
It's true that one night doesn't destroy your 62 days - it's just that when you see a potential problem well in advance, you either address it (in advance) or else you've already decided to drink.

When I read you last post I could sense that you were probably going to drink. That is why I suggested that if you spend enough time with dogs you are going to get flees.
It's time to change you playmates, your play things, and your play places if you are serious about staying sober. Sorry I know this sounds harsh but I'm just telling you the truth.
No you don't lose the 62 days, but yes you do need to change your sobriety date. To pretend that your slip didn't happen is just another alcoholic lie and will make it easier next time.
I'd like to add that all that happened almost 20 years ago and that a couple of million other people have gotten similar results. But gosh, far be it from li'l old humbler-than-thou me to hijack this otherwise uplifting and heartwarming discussion with facts.
I'd say too that time doesn't matter as long as we don't care how many more regrets we add to the pile. But if it's at all important to be able to remember the last 20 of one's life without a moment's twinge of shame, remorse or misgiving, then in that case I think it's fair to say that time in sobriety not only matters, but that building a meaningful and fulfilled life is simply impossible without it.
If in a month you know this is going to happen again, would you do it and keep your sober days...as if the slip never happened again? I can't do that. I have to get back to the basics, get back to the beginning and admit I screwed up, or I'm liable to do it again...and again and again.
If you didn't get drunk, and stopped or pucked your guts out, I'd say yeah, keep counting. But you planned this drunk. You let your will to stop the madness go. What if you try this again, and you don't make it back? I tried it, and here I am 4 years later trying to get back!!!
Just yesterday I was (stinkin) thinkin...I've been sober for 22 days now. I have a party to get together for my daughter for Saturday. My brother was saying that if the adults want to bring booze they should be able to. Just let the kids know they don't touch the stuff. I was then trying to rationalize that I am an adult. Haven't done anything stupid like get drunk and etc for 3 weeks now, I should be cool to do so, and get back to reality the next day. THAT for ME is TOTALLY rediculace! TOTALLY stinkin thinkin! TOTAL a mind game I was playin with myself.
We alcoholics can't afford those kind of chances! You're playing Russian Rollet! and you don't even know it.
Ashlee, please, do yourself a favor and get back to reality. I'm not trying to be mean here, just a bit harshly real!
