Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
How do you suppose lawyers and politicians get sober. My sponsor is a lawyer with some excellent sobriety.
Just to be clear... I am aware this is not an AA board. I am not an AA representative of any sort and am NOT debating the steps or AA's program of recovery. I do not speak on behalf of AA. Nor do I speak on behalf of any of its members. I speak for myself and express my own experience, strength, and hope.
So what, I get a little feisty once in awhile.
I am sober and happy today, and not NEARLY the bitch I was a year ago. Progress not perfection.
I know how one lawyer got sober. He left his high-price law firm in NY and went on the road as a box salesman.
I love that story.
Thinking I could be really argumentative right about now and insist it was likely the 12 steps that got him sober... jk.
I could never be sober lawyer.
Actually, I am not sure I could ever be a traveling sober box salesman either.
How dare you?
;)
I'm sorry to hear your dad never got better. I hope one day you will.
Not cool bumping such an old post.
AV: not sure what the heck to say to you.....
Don't know why you would know it. The man is an acquaintance of my husband. Not all great sobriety tales are in books...most are in real life.
Aw, thanks Sparky (blushing)
...repeating to self over and over... "it will be just fine... no one is going to bump any of the really old ugly threads... it will okay"
Don't worry, Tara, if one of the OLD ugly ones gets bumped, you can just be amazed and proud of how far you've come. You are rocking this sobriety thang!
