Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have gotten "sober" many times. Sometimes for a day or two, sometimes longer.
Currently I am finishing up one week sober, and what I have noticed is that I am gaining a new level of clarity.
Let me see if I can explain that better. When I "sober up" for a day or two, I get hangover free, and regain some mental clarity. What I am just now realizing is that I don't really get the "full" impact of clear thinking until at least a week has passed.
My question - for those of you with months of sobriety under your belts - does it continue to build? Or does it plateau? At what point?
Please share your experiences if you are willing to do so.
I suppose I could read a "medical" article, but I'd rather hear from "real people."
Thank you in advance.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

It wasn't until I started living my life by the 12 steps that I noticed all these little miracles going on in my life which made my faith stronger and gave me peace and contentment which I have never had,...ever!. I am constantly being humble by the works and the Greatness of my Higher Power.
I don't regret anything I have done because it all led me to where I am today and I have never been happier.
The Spritual part of myself was neglected for a very long time but the 12 steps changed all that for me. I don't know if any of this applies to you but I remember my sponser telling me that good things happen to those who get sober and that has proven true for me. It sounds like that may be going on for you. I found that alot of times things happen and I couldn't put a name on it but I knew it was there, working with me and for me because I knew I couldn't do it alone. I had to put my life in the Hands of my Higher Power. When I did that, I had no more worries!
God Bless!
But during the 8 years I did have sobriety. YES, the clarity does continue to get better and it doesn't reach a plateau. It just comes everyday in on way or another.
Its so worth it.
