Texi, I am sure you have heard all those suggestions at AA. I am NOT anti AA and think it is a great club for some alcohol addicts to belong to. I am only suggesting that some of the AA doctrine might need a closer look and possibly some revisions. Common sense suggestions like these are what I consider to be useful. I am not convinced that the 12 step program would be a useful tool for me. Glad it seems to work for some.

After my 4 day stay in detox, I was placed in a 3 week program for substance abuse. It was called the Serene Program. Not sure how it got it's name but anyway, it was an outpatient program which taught us how to live a sober lifestyle. We were also treated for the things which predisposed us to alcoholism which in my case, involved ptsd. We were also taught about AA and how it worked and we were required to attend 3 meetings per week, on our own. We also had a representative from AA speak to us once a week. It was a different person each time.

I give back by being that representative who tells my story to those in treatment who are struggling to stay sober.

I use to say AA saved my life but the truth is, God saved my life but AA just showed me where to find Him!

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
