Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I am 17 days shy of 5 years sober. So far, this year has been "my year".
On May 1st, my boyfriend and I are moving into a home that we purchased together. I am excited, but I'm kind of at the point where the back and forth communication between bank, lawyer and previous home owners has exhausted me. I am having a hard time to staying present and in the here and now. I'm dreaming of the pantry I'm going to organize, the garden I am going to plant, and the 5am coffees I can have when I'm awake before everyone else. I can see all of the positive and greatness coming with the move. The here and now feels like a bit of a drag.
It's become easier to make decisions based on what the right thing for my family and I would be. And it's become a lot easier to say "no" to the wrong things. And I continue to be willing to be reasonable and compromise when necessary. Having a willingness to be something other than how I used to be, as really inspired me to get out in the world and try to be a more productive person. Even if it's just small things.
I've been doing a lot of research on "companion planting" and I can't help but draw the parralells to my recovery. I think it's incredible how everything on Earth grows with proper support, nutrition, nurturing and patience. And when they don't, conditions just weren't suitable. Amazing how a companion can support or be a risk. And even more amazing, how some of the best things just grow on their own!
On the 28th, I will eat cake with my AA homegroup. And the month after that, I will be lost in packing, cleaning, painting, and preparing for the new space.
Thank you for listening, as always.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

the home on other hand improved my personal life as I could do what I want to the house to make it my own.....it has had almost too much money put into it but I have what I want here and I can continue with improvements....currently I am hopeful to try painting the outside myself....I want to use a sprayer type of painting to do it as I have a house with metal siding....part of this project is cleaning the outside of house to get it prepped to paint....and my fear is I will spend so long cleaning that I miss the window to paint....
anyway those are my own problems.....I congratulate you on buying your first home....hugs bill sober 5yrs we will talk about on march 28th....hehehe one day at a time....you got this....hugs
Thanks for sharing this post it gives hope
Big hugs <3
And 5 years!!!
Of course this hectic time will pass and you’ll be in your home, congratulations on putting this together!
I love the companion planting analogy:) So true. I would add that my garden experience has taught me the value of attending daily to the little things before they get big. I grow enough winter squash and pumpkin for the year and walking through the patch to drop squash bugs in a coffee can of soapy water every day keeps the plants healthy. Miss a week and there’s hundreds sucking the life out of the plants.
Daily practices have changed every aspect of life for me.
Make sure you check in on the 28th so we can cheer you on!!!
