Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hello - just joined. I'm returning to work tonight after a 4 day drinking binge while going through a divorce and moving out. I may lose my job - if you have a spare moment to send a positive thought to a lady in Colorado, I could use one. Thanks.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Glad to see you here and I hope that the future is brighter for you.
What I can tell you is that this time eight years ago I was someone without hope. I could not stop drinking, my life was falling apart and I believed that there was no way to fix it. A few months later it got worse and it was then that I accepted that I could not do it on my own if I wanted to live I would need to look for help. I reluctantly went to a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous and have not had a drink since. That is a very big deal for an alcoholic like me but it is only part of the story. The other part is that not only do I not want to drink anymore but life is so much better in many other ways.
What you do is not my business but that is what has worked for me.
8 years ago, I did not want to live anymore. I felt like I had built a trap that I couldn't get out of. I drove myself to the emergency room, (drunk) desparate for help, they put me in detox. From that day on, one thing led to another. From detox it was a 3 week outpatient program which I took in the evenings so I could continue to work.
Long story short, it has been AA that has kept me sober to this day.
God Bless!
I'm sorry to read your pain. For me AA was key in me regaining my dignity. If you understand that you are powerless over alcohol, AA can work for you.
