Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I know stress is a trigger for many alchies. It's always easier to reach for a drink or a drug to numb us then it is to feel the emotional pain and hurt. The first few meetings I went to some of the older people talked about how they would rather see us hurtig and feeling that pain....I didn't want to hear that! But they also assured us they would be right there with us to give us emotional support in the form of a hug and identifying with what we were suffering through. 3 years and many meetings later, am convinced that no matter how bad things are going, someone else has life rougher then me!
It is the emotional pain that helps us to grow and mature. I had a difficult time contemplating that at first. If things are going bad, I usually get on the phone and call my sponser and he will tell me something good about it. Thats one thing I always remembered hearing from him that no matter how bad things are, there is or will be some good that comes out of it.
I saw this on a t-shirt:
How to handle stress like a dog,
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Pee on it and walk away!
Have a great day!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Actually, there is nothing so calming as having a dog sit or lie down quietly next to you. Works with a cat too. I'm not trying to hijack your thread, but there is a therapeutic benefit to a friendly pet. Unless of course, they are making a mess on your carpet.
I've finally learned to ask myself if my problem is going to matter in a week or a month, or a year. Usually the answer is "no".
In regards to bigger problems in life (finances, etc.) you just never know how things will unfold in the future. So its best to live one day at a time, because things have never unfolded the way my worst fears predicted they would unfold.
I highly recommend one for everyone in recovery!
I love the t-shirt slogan too and also hope you have a great day!
