I am doing great. I think I may reward myself today. I am proud! It hasn't always been easy there have white knuckled it a few times. I say that some days go by and I don't think about it and some weeks go by and I don't think about it. My only saving grace is every time I thought about going there I played it through that first drink and where I would end up and I know it isn't worth it. Ready to go another 6mo and so on.

Hi I'm new here. Been reading posts for a while. Yours just hit me. That one first drink and thinking where it's going to lead me too. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks..I'm still struggling but will remember those words

I started back drinking after Quitting for 18 months. Now I know I can't take that 1 drink. Glad to have inspiration here

What you did to save yourself from taking that firast drink was something my counselord instilled in us during my time in the IOP. When hit with a craving, always, think about the consequences of your a ctions before you pick up that first drink! Some spiritualities, call that type of thinking right mindedness. It took me years before I knew I even had a mind! Now I use it every day!

Thanks guys. We all just can make the decision not today, but there have been moments I have thought about alcohol. I do that forward thinking each time. I am forever grateful for each of you and to AA and especially my sponsor who texts with me everyday. I have grasped onto that serenity prayer also. I am forever a control freak and it hgelpos remind me I am not in control, and that it is OK.

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
