Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hello. I am new here.. been sober for over 4 weeks now. I was diagnosed with mild fatty liver 2 weeks ago during a trip to ER that ended up being Diverticulitis. even though my blood work is fine. I am scared to death. I start doing something right just to find out my liver is in trouble.. scared and depressed. :(

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The liver is an organ that can heal itself. Stay sober and you might be just fine. Hopefully in addition to getting your health back you'll love your new alcohol-free life.
I was told to quit for 3 months each time and they were back to normal.
I no longer drink.
Look online and research the liver.
Fatty liver is a precurser to sirosis and believe me, it's not a good way to go but thank God you quit.
Congratulations on 4 weeks sobriety! If you need any help to stay sober, don't be afraid to ask. There are lots of people willing to help!
God Bless!
Enough oif that. What you need to know now is how to live your life sober and happy. Some of the thinbgs that i learned
1. The only person that I can change is me. I no longer get obsessed when someone doesn't do what I want them to do.
2. I learned to accept people as they are.
3. I found Mindful meditation a great help.
4. I went through unpleasant emotions. The more I did this the less powerful they became. I no longer need to escape my emotions by drinking.
4. If I felt like escaping with booze I said to myself " Not today maybe tomorrow. The next day I did the same. This is called "One day at a time"
5. I follow the path that calls me. I don't try to follow another's path unless it is on the same road.
I started doing new things and found myself active in sobriety.example photography, Photoshop, cooking at the temple, volunteer to take a class on a field trip, performance art, etc
You will learn a lot more from others, if you stick around. Take what you want to take and leave the rest.
Congradulations! you are sober 4 weeks. That is a monumental task.
I had high liver enzymes when I stopped drinking. Within a relatively short time, my liver returned to normal. The body has an amazing way to heal itself after the irritant is gone. Congrats on 4 weeks. That's one hell of a long time for alcoholics like us!
I chuckled at your comment at the bottom. I thought in the beginning that I had sobered up just to discover I really was crazy, lol. This too shall pass. Stay the course. Hugs, Dianna
One day I had enough and I decided to go to a meeting, that was June 9, 2012. I have not drank because I have learned that I am an alcoholic
1) I crave alcohol when I am not drinking
2) when I start , I can't stop
I learned thru other ppl like me that the only way to stop is to not start. I used alcohol to cope, now I use other means of coping and don't require lots of booze. My last day I drank a fifth of liquor and about 15 beers. I was beat.
I am now so happy that there is a solution
